You have a printer that wants to be reinstalled on your laptop or computer, but you forgot where to put the CD driver? Or maybe you just bought a new printer but didn't get the CD driver?

Don't worry because you can still install your printer without using the CD driver. How to? See the explanation below.

How to install a new printer without a driver CD

Before you start installing, make sure you first know the specifications of your printer model. If the manual is still there, you can search for references from there. For the latest printer you can install it only by using the default USB cable. But for older printers that still don't use a USB cable, you need to download the driver software on the official website of the printer manufacturer.

How to Install a printer with download drivers from the official website

#1. Open the official website of the printer manufacturer to get the driver software that matches your type of printer. On this website there are many drivers so make sure you don't choose the wrong driver.

To make it easier to find it, use the search bar which is usually at the top right of the website. Scroll the search results until you find the driver software you are looking for and download it.

#2. Drivers that are downloaded are usually in the form of a winrar file so you need Winrar software to extract it. Right-click the file then click Extract Here so the file can be extracted in that folder too.

#3. Look for the setup file with the EXE extension. Double click the file to start the installation process.

#4. Just follow each instruction that appears on the computer screen until it's finished.

#5. The last stage of installation is usually you are asked to restart the computer so that the driver software is installed perfectly.

#6. After the computer is restarted, connect the printer with your computer using the default cable to check whether the computer can now recognize the printer.

For printers with connection systems using WiFi, make sure you have turned on WiFi and computers and your printer is connected to WiFi. You should now be able to use your printer.

How to Install the printer with a USB cable

#1. Connect the printer with a computer using the default USB cable. In general, the printer's USB cable is not too long so you have to put the printer near the computer.

#2. Turn on your printer. On some printer models usually after the printer is turned on, the installation process will automatically start or the installation instructions appear on the computer screen. If there is no such thing on your computer then do the next step.

#3. Click the Start menu in the lower left corner with the Windows logo on it.

#4. Click Devices and Printers. For Windows 10, click Settings - Devices - Printers & Scanners.

#5. Click Add a printer or scanner at the top of the screen. The computer will scan for printers that are connected to the computer.

#6. Select the one that fits your printer model. If your printer name does not appear, click the printer link that I want isn't listed. Then click the search button so the system can scan your printer driver on the hard drive. You may have to download the driver software if it turns out that the computer still cannot scan your printer.

#7. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen until they are finished. Restart the computer if prompted. Your printer is now ready for use.

In addition to the two methods above, you can also install the printer by sharing with a computer that has a driver CD. But this method can only be used in a place where computers are connected in an infrastructure network.

If you install the printer for the only computer at home, of course, how to share the printer cannot be used. That is why only the two methods above are explained here. May be useful.
