Huawei P30 Pro has a quad camera module on the back, with double OIS, 50x digital zoom and many more features that you may have never imagined.

Presented at an event in Paris, Huawei's highly anticipated flagship smartphone is now official. The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are the company's latest efforts to present to users not only the best performance in its class, but also the most advanced photographic experience on a smartphone.
So, without further ado, here’s everything you should know about the Huawei P30 Pro’s quad-camera module:

Huawei P30 Pro Camera Specs

The Huawei P30 Pro comes with a Leica quad-camera module on the back, with a SuperSpectrum primary sensor of 40 MP (f / 1.6), a 20 MP wide-angle camera, an 8 MP telephoto camera ( which is the most notable update, as you will see), and finally a time-of-flight (TOF) sensor made by Huawei. There is also a 32MP selfie camera.

The company has placed all three cameras in a vertical module on the back, with the flash sensors, flicker and LED color temperature, and the TOF sensor located to the right of it. Before continuing and learning what each sensor will be used for, let's take a look at the module here:

40MP SuperSpectrum Sensor

Beginning with the main SuperSpectrum sensor, Huawei has updated the traditional Bayer RGBG filter by changing the green pixels to "higher" yellow pixels. This means that you get an RYYB sensor, which according to Huawei can produce a maximum ISO rating of up to 409,600 on the P30 Pro.
RYYB sensor takes in 40% more light than the traditional RGB sensors

This sensor is optically stabilized (OIS) and the AIS (AI stabilization) packages also offer a main camera capable of capturing some extraordinary details and bright images, even at night. If you combine this with the secondary wide-angle lens, with a field of view of up to 120 degrees, you can capture some captivating shots.

8MP Telephoto, 10X Hybrid Zoom

The highlight of the quad camera module on the Huawei P30 Pro is the telephoto camera because it is not a standard sensor, but comes with an integrated prism element to provide users with a periscope module. This allows the light entering the sensor to bend at a right angle to maximize the focal length, without increasing the height of the camera or interrupting the design.

This has been termed as the SuperZoom lens by Huawei and it’s capable of high-fidelity magnification up to 5 times optical zoom, 10 times hybrid zoom, and 50 times digital zoom. It’s mind-boggling how the Chinese giant has achieved this feat but we’ll have to wait for a hands-on with the device to see how this feature performs.

This sensor also packs OIS, so you have dual-OIS aboard the Huawei P30 Pro, which is certainly going to be handy for handheld night shots.

Time-of-Flight (TOF) Camera

The flight time camera (TOF) has found its way into several modern smartphones, recently. Although many of you do not see any purpose in this sensor, but it is usually used to capture depth information and is being used in the Huawei P30 Pro for the same.

The depth map, with precise accuracy of image segmentation and distance measurement, allows multiple levels of bokeh that you can adjust on the device. This sensor will also be useful to facilitate future developments of mobile AR, but only in the P30 Pro, since it is missing in the P30.

Huawei P30 Pro: Photo and Video Features

The P30 Pro comes with AI and HDR + technology, with which you can capture "Super Portrait Mode" photos with immense details, even the strands of hair on the subject's face.

Well, in regards to video capabilities, Huawei boasts that the P30 series can capture an amazing night video, giving a new meaning to your dinners with candles or bonfires, thanks to the new SuperSpectrum sensor. The dual OIS combo of the primary sensor is available for 4K recordings at 60 fps, so you can expect super smooth and clear videos using it. You can zoom in to capture some beautiful close-ups.

All these camera sensors allow a lot of camera functions in the P30 Pro, but the one that catches my eye most is the double-view mode. Huawei is taking its dual NPU to its limits by using two of the rear cameras on board to record videos simultaneously. Yes, your Huawei P30 Pro will be able to capture a wide angle and a zoomed video at exactly the same time, with both sources on the screen.

There is definitely much more to come on the cameras of the P30 Pro and we bring you our first impressions as soon as possible. Stay tuned with Beebom for more information about the Huawei P30 Pro.
