The activity of downloading and uploading files on the internet is a familiar thing. The simplest of these two activities is the transmission of files, either from the server to the user or vice versa. But not a few people who understand clearly about the definition of download and upload.

Even though in my opinion these two things are basic knowledge of the internet. Therefore, I want to provide an explanation of the meaning of downloading and uploading in full

Understanding of Download

The simple download is "download", which is the process of retrieving data (such as music, videos, movies, documents, images, etc.) from a server computer (another computer) to the user's computer (our computer) itself. When you download a movie or video from the internet it is one example of a download.

When someone wants to download, of course, they must request first to the server computer, so it can be said that downloading is the process of receiving and retrieving files from the server to the user. The purpose of the download itself is nothing but to take a file that we need from the server.

Understanding Upload

Whereas uploading is the opposite, so where is the process when we "send" files to another computer or server computer. Then the uploaded file will be published and anyone can see it, just like you update photos on Instagram. The purpose of uploading is to spread, publish files so that they can be seen or used by others.

What is downstream and upstream?

Besides downloading and uploading, there are two more terms that are closely related namely downstream and upstream. What is downstream and upstream? Here's the explanation.

Understanding downstream itself is the internet speed or data flow when we are downloading. The maximum downstream limit is 284 kbps or 512 kbps. While the understanding of upstream is the speed of data flow when we are uploading, with a maximum speed of 64 kbps.

So that's the meaning of download, upload, downstream, and upstream, do you understand? Please comment if there are still things you want to ask. Hopefully this article is useful.
